I was just in Santa Fe for a brief visit. Paid my respects to Coach Faucett, and noted the area around "old" SFHS. Most construction is related to the convention center. Sears bldg, and that related area of Lincoln has been replaced with mixed use, residential/retail. The city core is driven by the tourist industry, service industry has moved to the SE part of the city.

I returned to Santa Fe in 1984 andhave leived here ever since. In some ways Imiss the "Old" Santa Fe, esp. the Plaza which was a very cordial meeting place. As most natives, I rarely go downtown unless I have specific business or out-of-town guests.
The new convention center will be a nice additionto the City, but it is also just one more of the old landmarks that has disappeared.

Hi Paul,

How are U?

Last time I remember seeing you was on HY101 in Ventura CA at Loop's (?) restaurant in the middle 60's. Or is that a figment of my imagination.

The last time I purchased flowers there was 1962. Never mind the flower shop, remember the cream puffs at the bakery on the corner?

I'm such a tourist when I return to Santa Fe! I love the galleries and outdoor art shows, etc. but do wish they would complete all the construction...it seems to be taking forever.

Yes, Martin's Bakery. I spent lots of time on that corner (so to speak). Worked at the flower shop all during high school and then for a year when I lived in Santa Fe about 30 yrs ago. Good thing I don't work next door to a bakery now! Thanks, David for giving us this forum. Enjoy the pictures and articles you send out.
